One prompt hides too many decisions

A single request to “research this prospect and write an email” combines account fit, business understanding, signal discovery, persona analysis, relevance judgment, claim discipline, and copywriting. When the result is weak, the operator cannot tell which decision failed.

Multi-pass research separates those decisions and gives each pass a defined input and output.

Build context before choosing the angle

First confirm the company belongs in the market. Then understand its business, collect current signals, establish the recipient’s remit, and compare possible hooks. The order matters because an interesting fact should not rescue a poor-fit account.

  • Pass 1: company fit
  • Pass 2: business model
  • Pass 3: current signals
  • Pass 4: person and remit
  • Pass 5: hook qualification
  • Pass 6: message readiness

Keep structured evidence

Each pass should return fields that downstream steps can inspect: source URLs, observation dates, confidence, rejection reasons, selected angle, and contact status. This makes review and reprocessing practical.

The process adds work before sending. That is the point. Research-led outbound trades indiscriminate volume for a more defensible first touch.
